Chapter 3: Functions of different department within Hotel
Front Desk
Staff in Front Desk have to greet and welcome the guests. They should help the guests to check in and give them their room. They also have to provide the information about the hotel to the guests and answer the questions of the guests. Finally, they have to help the guests to check out
Reservation
Staff in Reservation Department need to receive and process reservation requests for future overnight accommodations. With technology development, Reservation Department can access the number and types of room availability.
Cashier
Staff in Cashier need to collect money from guests for their lodging accommodations and any other fees they may incur during their stay, including parking, room service and telephone or internet use fees. Also, staff in Cashier required to maintain daily records and files regarding all the financial transactions.
Concierge
Staff in Concierge need to welcome all the guests with smile. Answering questions and providing information in the hotel and the surrounding area.
Housekeeping
The main function of housekeeping is to do rooms cleaning and turn-down service. Housekeeping is required to prepare the cart such as proper amount of towels and fresh linens, stripping the rooms when a guest checks out. The bed linens should also be removed and replaced each day by housekeeping.
Laundry
Laundry is part of the hospitality and service team in a hotel. It ensures that cleanliness of all towels and linens are maintained the presentation standard by the hotel. The quality of the hotel laundry can be a factor in whether a customer returns to the hotel. It is important for overall satisfaction of the hotel.
